Bohemians come dweller of Bohemia, Czech Republic. A term utilized to designate indweller of the previous kingdom of Bohemia, located in the modern day Czech Republic. A title from either a Latin term for the Celtic tribe (Boii) inhabiting that area (Tacitus: Boiohaemum). A word "Bohemians" was never utilized per local Czech people. Within Czech, a area was since early Middle Ages known as merely "ÄŒechy" - Bohemia or even "Královstvà Ä?eské" - Kingdom of Bohemia, & its in the main Czech-speaking indweller "ÄŒeÅ¡i".
Withwithin more European vernaculars & in Latin (Bohemi) a word "Bohemian" or even its derivates was utilized to designate a lot dweller of Bohemia. In case a Czech ethnic origin was to exist as stressed, combinations rather "Bohemian of Bohemian language", "a real Bohemian" etc. were utilized.
It was non until a 19th century whilst more European languages began to utilize a word "Czechs" (within English), "Tschechen" (inside German) or even tchéques (withwithin French) in the studied (& succesful) attempt to distinguish between ethnic Czechs & more habitant of Bohemia.
These are non clear how else a word acquired its secondary meaning (understand Bohemianism or Bohemian (disambiguation)).
